Committed to Safety
Dallas Theological Seminary was recently awarded top honors for workplace safety by Ohio Casualty Group (OCG). The award was created in 1994 to acknowledge excellent policyholders who have experienced superior results through their loss control efforts. Dallas Seminary was one of this year's recipients of the Platinum Award, the highest award given by OCG.
Whistle While You Work?
The votes are in and Dallas Seminary ranked a finalist in Christianity Today’s
survey of best Christian places to work in the category of higher
education with 225–300 employees. Sponsored by Christianity Today
and Christian Management Association, the survey, which is administered
by the Best Christian Workplaces Institute, polled more than ten
thousand employees at a variety of Christian organizations. The survey
revealed five qualities of organizations with high levels of employee
satisfaction: Christian character, competence, compassion,
compensation, and commitment.
Book of the Year Awards
ForeWord
magazine named Reinventing
Jesus: How Contemporary Skeptics Miss the Real Jesus and Mislead
Popular Culture by J. Ed Komoszewski (ThM, 2000), M. James
Sawyer (ThM, 1978; PhD, 1987), and Daniel B. Wallace (ThM, 1979; PhD,
1995), a finalist in the Religion category for its 2006 Book of the
Year Awards. According to the magazine, “[The] Book of the
Year Awards were established to bring increased attention from
librarians and booksellers to the literary achievements of independent
publishers and their authors.” A jury of the
magazine’s readers, librarians, and booksellers select the
top categories as well as choose the winning titles. Their decisions
take into consideration editorial excellence, professional production,
originality of the narrative, author credentials relative to the book,
and the value the book adds to its genre.
KS Captures Prizes
Kindred Spirit
has been recognized with three awards from the Religion Communicators
Council (RCC) for 2006. The magazine received two awards of
excellence—one in the “national magazine”
category, and one for publication design of the “Who Is
Jesus?” issue. An award of merit was given for
“photography, color, single photo.” The
award-winning photo, taken by David Edmonson, was of Dr. Daniel Wallace
to accompany an article on his work with ancient manuscripts. These
awards recognize the achievements of RCC members who, according to the
organization, “demonstrate excellence as religion
communicators.”
Kindred Spirit
was also honored with an Award of Merit for its “Who Is
Jesus?” cover from the Evangelical Press Association, whose
250-plus periodical members have a combined circulation of more than
twenty million readers.
