2008 Commencement Season Calendar

Monday, April 28, 4:30 PM  
All course work is due for spring graduates and summer participants, including all requirements for Field Education internships, ITS cassette courses, and independent studies.

Friday, May 2, 10:30 AM
Senior-Class chapel in Chafer Chapel. The annual chapel is designed, produced, and directed by the graduating class. A DVD of the Senior-Class chapel is included with the Commencement DVD set.

Tuesday, May 6 – Thursday, May 8, 11:15 AM – 1:15 PM ; Friday, May 9, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Caps and gowns will be available for pick-up in the Walvoord Student Center, Room 313B. Regalia not picked up by Thursday will be delivered to Scofield Memorial Church and can be picked up there before Commencement Chapel. After Commencement Chapel, the regalia will be brought back to Room 313B and will be available for pick up until 5:00 p.m. on May 9. Any remaining regalia will be delivered early Saturday morning to Prestonwood Baptist Church in time for Commencement. Questions about regalia may be addressed to the Registrar's Office.

Friday, May 9, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
The DTS campus will be open for graduates, their families, and friends who may wish to visit the Seminary. Please take this opportunity to visit the campus since it will be closed Saturday, May 10, the day of Commencement.

The graduating class will assemble in the gymnasium before the service. Please plan to arrive by 9:00 a.m. for instructions and line-up.

Friday, May 9, 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Texas Barbecue and Reception. A come-and-go, casual dinner will be served by the faculty and staff to all graduates, participants, and their families and friends on the DTS campus. Games, a petting zoo, pony rides, and other activities will be available for children. This is an excellent time for family members to meet and talk with the faculty and staff.

Saturday, May 10, 10:00 AM – 12:15 PM
Commencement ceremony at:

Plano, Texas

Commencement will NOT be ticketed this year. There is ample seating at Prestonwood for family and friends who wish to attend. Graduates should assemble in the worship center no later than 8:30 a.m. The graduating class will receive instructions for the ceremony and a group photo of all graduating students will be taken immediately thereafter. The line-of-march will form promptly at 9:20 a.m. Childcare is available for children five and under.
